Tonight’s the big fight and my prediction still stands. In case you missed my previous post on this, I got my money (figuratively speaking, I’m not a betting man) on St. Pierre. Bigger, faster, stronger, with superior conditioning.

I’ve asked several people at the Gracie Barra facility where I train at and it’s pretty much a toss up. Some people Penn, some St. Pierre.

Despite the fact that BJ Penn is a jiu-jitsu phenom and pretty aggressive, I don’t think he’s as well rounded at GSP. Plus, since I’m a strength coach, I have to look at the training both men are doing, and GSP’s strength coach and the training they’ve done matches up with what I’d be having him do. I’m not suggesting that this is the most important aspect in picking the winner, but it would be foolish of me not to pay attention to since it is my profession.

Lately I’ve been making an effort to add exercise videos to the blog, but couldn’t figure out how to have an exercise demo page without it going to the main blog posts. I didn’t just want an arbitrary video for a blog post without any explanation. And having an explanation for just an exercise doesn’t constitute a blog post (at least to me).

So I finally figured out how to do it. At the top of the website, there’s a link that says EXERCISE DATABASE. If you put the mouse over it, you’ll see that a drop down menu opens up for:

  • UPPER BODY PUSH EXERCISES
  • UPPER BODY PULL EXERCISES
  • LOWER BODY EXERCISES
  • ABDOMINAL EXERCISES

If you click on one of those it will take you to exercise demo videos for that movement. I will hopefully be adding a ton of exercises, and will have more categories.

It’s not looking as pretty as I wanted, but efficiency wins out.

So I’m hoping you will find it useful.

That’s all I got. It’s almost 5PM here in Chicago as I’m writing this, and I gotta split.

Check out these two videos on some training footage of GSP and Penn.

I’m not impressed at all with Penn’s training. He’s about as strong as an eighth grader and looks more like he’s training for a body building show that an MMA fight. Hopefully my prediction is solid. We’ll know in a few hours.

PS. Any ideas you might have on the exercise database, please don’t hesitate.
